Psalms 82:1-8  A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Psalm 82:1–8
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? The Lord, by His Spirit in the midst of all, speaks to the saints, reminding them of their divine origin and holy convocation in Him from the beginning, long before their descent into time and space.

The sons of God, also referred to as gods (elohim), do not die. As Jesus says, they are equal to the angels and cannot die, because they live by the very life of their Father. The Lord further reveals that you are troubled and perish like mortal men because you lack the understanding of the truth of your being. In your ignorance, you have become acquainted with the dark gloominess of the abyss below.

Man has lost the sacred knowledge of the I that is above—the knowledge of the one Life in which we partake in the Father. He has identified himself with the flesh and has therefore become fatherless, orphaned, and afflicted, wandering in outer darkness.

As Jesus says:

“If ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

My people perish for lack of knowledge—the knowledge that I AM HE, the Lord from heaven.

The Lord—the Christ in you—who has been asleep upon His mortal bed in the dust must arise from His slumber.

In the day of your trouble you have bourne the inglorious image of the man of the dust but at the sound of the trumpet revealing the mystery of who I AM, man will awaken into the image of the Lord from heaven.

Yes, arise, O God! Scatter your enemies—the principalities of this dark age—and ascend on high to inherit all things.
