I AM IS THE LIFE OF THE LIVING
I AM IS THE LIFE OF THE LIVING

To appear before the burning bush and hear the voice declaring, “I AM THAT I AM,” Moses had separated himself from the entangling maze of life in Egypt and entered into a solitary place that was not pleasant to the flesh. He embarked upon a solitary forty-year journey, symbolic of the fasting, separation, and spiritual dedication of those who seek the blessing from above. As rightly described in Psalm 24, they do not set their affections upon vain things, but rather upon the living God, out of whom flow true life and everlasting pleasure.
Symbolically, all men must appear before this burning bush, hear this voice, and become one with the voice. Allegorically, Moses became an embodiment of the voice declaring, “I AM THAT I AM.” It was the voice that performed the devastating works in Egypt and crushed the head of Rahab, the dragon, in the Red Sea—Rahab being a proverbial name for Pharaoh and his army. All these things represent the mighty working of the Lord to deliver His sons from hard servitude and bondage to the principalities and powers of this dark age. Indeed, I AM is the Truth that sets men free.
At the Passover, the blood of an unblemished lamb upon their doorposts symbolized the cleansing and redeeming blood of the Lord. The unleavened bread and the unblemished lamb upon their tables represented their feasting upon the pure knowledge of the I AM. The sandals on their feet and the staff in their hands symbolize the watchful and prepared soul who, by faith, arises to live by the name of the Lord.
Their passage through the Red Sea symbolizes the Way reserved for the I AM, by which He returns to His dwelling place above, upon the everlasting heights of Zion. Those who feast upon the knowledge of the I AM—the Bread of Life—live on account of the I AM and, becoming one with Him, become the very way through which others may ascend into the state of the Father.
“I AM THAT I AM” is the voice of the Lord, the Spirit, who is before all things and lives eternally. The voice reaches out to the sons of God who are asleep in their human graves. It goes forth to provoke an awakening in the sons of God who languish and perish in outer darkness, calling them forth and gathering them into the dimension of the I AM.
I AM is the eternal Spirit who descends into the world through any willing vessel to give life in abundance to all who will receive Him. I AM comes to give life by setting the captives free from the prison house of sin and death, causing them to ascend on high into the place overflowing with milk and honey.
I AM is the Way, the Truth, and the Life of all who live.
